In 1846, Carl Zeiss started to manufacture precise mechanics and optical instruments in his workshop in Jena. This marked chapter one of a success story that had an enormous influence on technological and scientific progress throughout the 19th century. A thirst for knowledge, determination, and passion were the values that inspired Carl Zeiss and Ernst Abbe to improve their work more and more. We have upheld this tradition: Still to this day, we help our customers to succeed with these values, all while constantly pushing ourselves to the limits of what is possible.
